Jim Lau, RLA, Joins JPCL as Director of Design Services

JPCL Engineering is pleased to announce the newest addition to our leadership team, Jim Lau, RLA, who has joined us as the Director of Design Services. With a distinguished career spanning over 40 years in the design and construction industry, primarily within the New York metropolitan area, Jim brings a depth of expertise and a proven track record in transportation infrastructure and environmental design.

 

Jim's extensive experience includes three decades as the Design Supervisor of the Landscape Architecture and Environmental Unit at NYSDOT, along with significant roles in the private sector. His work has consistently demonstrated a commitment to integrating engineering design with environmental considerations, ensuring compliance with both the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQR) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for state and federal projects.

 

Note worthy projects under Jim's leadership have included the PANYNJ JFK Redevelopment, the Arthur Sheridan Enhancement DB Project, and the NYSDOT Kew Gardens Interchange, among others. Each project showcases Jim's ability to manage complex environmental assessments and design processes, coordinate with regulatory agencies, and secure necessary permits, all while maintaining a focus on sustainable and community-friendly design.

 

Jim's contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2022 ASCE Construction Achievement Award for the Kew Gardens Interchange and the 2020 ENR NY Best Projects Award of Merit for the Arthur Sheridan Enhancement Project. These accolades reflect Jim's dedication to excellence in design and his impact on enhancing urban landscapes.
